How to block spam texts on iPhone
Blocking numbers one by one doesn't work: spammers change numbers every day. An SMS filter looks at what a message says and who it looks like, and sorts it before you ever see a notification.

Most spam and scam texts are sent from rotating numbers, short codes and bulk gateways. By the time you block one, the next message comes from somewhere else. iOS also offers Filter Unknown Senders, but it only separates people you know from everyone else: your bank code and a fake parcel fee land in the same place.
A filter app adds judgment. It reads the incoming SMS on your device, decides whether it is spam, a transaction or a promotion, and tells Messages where to put it.
Turn on SMS filtering in four taps
- Install Junkless and open it once.
- Open Settings › Apps › Messages.
- Tap Unknown & Spam, then SMS Filtering.
- Choose Junkless.
From now on, new texts from unknown numbers are checked as they arrive. Spam goes to Messages › Filters › Junk without a notification. After a big iOS update, check this setting once: updates occasionally switch the filter off. Junkless can remind you monthly.
What an SMS filter can and can't see
iOS only shows filter apps SMS and MMS messages from senders who aren't in your contacts and whom you haven't replied to. It never shows iMessages or messages from your contacts, and it can't move messages you already received. That is a privacy guarantee built into the iPhone, and it is why a good filter must decide correctly the first time.
Keep the texts you need
The biggest risk with any spam filter is losing a real message. Junkless treats anything that looks like a verification code as a transaction, never as spam, even if the rest of the text looks suspicious. When the model isn't confident, it lets iOS decide instead of guessing.

Fine-tune with your own rules
Rules always win over the model. Allow a sender you trust, filter a word that keeps showing up, or use a regular expression for tricky patterns. Rules work in every language and ignore case and accents, so a rule for "discount" also catches "DISCOUNT".
